中国制冷学会成立于1977年4月25日，是全国制冷空调行业的非营利性学术法人社团，是中国科学技术协会所属的全国一级学会之一。1978年1月，经国务院批准代表中国加入国际制冷学会（IIR），为二级会员国。学会现有单位会员620家，资深会员96人，高级会员1,000余人，重新登记普通会员13,000余人，学生会员10,000余人。会员之中不乏周远、王浚、江亿、陶文铨、何雅玲、陈学东、吴德绳等我国制冷空调行业杰出科学家。
学会自成立以来，始终以团结服务全体会员和广大制冷行业工作者为宗旨，以促进制冷科学技术的发展为己任，广泛开展国内、国际学术交流和科技咨询活动，编辑出版《制冷学报》、《制冷技术》、《中国制冷简报》、专业书籍、技术资料和科普读物，促进制冷科技人才的成长和进步，积极制定、修订各种制冷技术、产品标准并完善冷藏链标准化体系，发起并成功举办中国制冷展，举办和组织参加国际性展览，为中国制冷事业的繁荣和发展做贡献。
Chinese Association of Refrigeration(CAR) was founded on April 25th, 1977.CAR is a national scientific organization in the field of refrigeration and air-conditioning industry and trade ,which is subordinated to China Association for Science and Technology(CAST).CAR formally joined in the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR, headquarter in Paris) in January 1978, and became a second category membership country .Up to now,CAR has 620 company members, 96 fellow members, more than 1000 senior members, more than 13,000 ordinary members and 10,000 student members.Prominent refrigeration and air-conditioning scientists such as Zhou Yuan, Wang Jun, Jiang Yi, Tao Wenquan, He Yaling, Chen Xuedong, Wu Desheng, have joined CAR and played an active role in the development of CAR.
CAR is committed to solidify and serve its members and the refrigeration workers. For the development of refrigeration science and technology, CAR has conducted a wide range of events and activities such as carrying out academic exchange both at home and abroad, publishing professional books, technological materials and science textbooks, formulating and revising standards of refrigeration technology and products, improving cold chain standardization system, initiating China Refrigeration Expo, organizing and attending international exhibitions, which has made and will continue to make substantial contribution to the prosperity and development of China refrigeration industry.
